I invited you all for breakfast. I was going to post pictures of the amazing pancakes I was going to cook, but then... I wanted oatmeal. Sorry guys. And they were even going to be Little Mermaid pancakes in honor of today's post. I just happen to be an awesome shaper of pancake batter. Did you know that?
Well, now you do.
Once upon a time.... I wrote this post. You should probably read it for a little backstory. It involves my deep and long-lasting infatuation with Prince Eric. There are three links now. You can't miss them.
I'll give you some space to go read and mull things over....

Are we good? This is a long one. But one that will teach you about the true me. One August of 2006, I decided that college was finally ready for my fine, new mature me. (Hah!) I hid the fact that I had a Disney Princess journal purchased at Disney World during junior year choir tour.
(You don't believe I have one, do you? I can see the look in your eyes!)
Well, check THAT out:
(Excuse the poor quality, Photo Booth can only do so much.)
I, afraid of what the world might do to me should I reveal my true inner Disney lover, move into an apartment of five complete strangers. I meet my soulmate in Megan, who immediately assigns everybody a Disney Princess and gives them a page to color and put on their door.
(I bet you think I don't have pictures of these either.)
Well, check THESE out:
Oh don't worry. I have one too.
I'll give you one guess as to who is left:
"But Chess!" you protest. "Except for Belle, their hair is all wrong." We were instructed to color them as our own hair currently dictated. That is why Ariel has blonde streaks in the black. I tried to make honey-brown, but that didn't work.
"But Chess, how come your picture doesn't look like the others?" That's because I had my OWN coloring book, purchased on my 12th birthday, when I went to see Disney on Ice. That's right. You heard me. I went to see the Little Mermaid whiz around on ice-skates.
Anyway, the point of this story. Ever since freshman year, it's become the Original Six's tradition to ask guys who their favorite Disney princess is and why. We don't tell them why. We just chuckle to ourselves over their reasons. Usually, it's either Belle or Jasmine. Which is why, two posts ago, when Rick and Mr. SovietChairman commented and said they liked Ariel the best, I got really excited. In four years of asking, that has NEVER happened! Poor little redheaded fish-girl is sooooo underrated. I bet if Charlie Brown were a fish-boy, he'd like her.
So thanks for a good laugh and a big smile, boys. It made my weekend a little bit brighter!
To the rest of you, I think you should go read these guys' blogs. Rick makes yummy treats and sprinkles them with beautifully sarcastic humor, and SovietChairman has all these cool little sketches on his posts, and they both just have a nice prose style. I enjoy it. It's always great fun for me to run into blogs like these that just make me smile. I highly recommend!
So on this Wednesday...
Tell me who your favorite princess is and why?

Hmm...I have to say my favorite is a tie between Belle and Snow White...Belle, because I secretly wanted to be her when I was younger, and Snow White because I got to play her in a class play. She was actually a side character, but it was still fun and I love her anyway ;)
My favorite is a tie between Belle and Jasmine just because I love the songs from both of those movies!
Chessie! i found your blog :) so so cute! oh and i love Jasmine !! Hope all is well xoxo
okay yes- Ariel is bomb but I cant lie - Belle is my favorite. She's the well rounded one! Appearances dont matter to her, she appreciates her family, she reads, and she's kind of a feminist.
Snow White and Sleeping Beauty are obviously the worst princesses. The weaklings have to be saved by men as they take a nap.
Mulan and Pocahontas sometimes take over the number one spot with me because they are actually based on real people and theyre completely BA
...that was much more description than you asked for
ps Jasmine = rich skank
oh this post just made me tickled with joy. :)
*note about me: i love the little mermaid, but i am absolutely terrified of Ursula (WHY does she have to be that big, shake her boobs, and then get even bigger and scarier? WHY?! Also, I just don't believe that poking her in the belly with a prow would kill her...she's still out there somewhere) so I don't watch it that often. I think I might cry like a baby if I saw her at the Broadway, but I want to see it.
Sorry Chess but my fav. is Jasmine hands down!
But, but, wait!
It's only because I married Aladdin! Seriously. And then there's the whole "I wish I was brown thing".
Belle, because she is me! Hehe. I love her because she is smart, loves reading, doesn't judge a book by the cover, beautiful, and everything else!
I always liked Ariel, but maybe that's just because as a kid, the Little Mermaid was the only Princess movie I actually enjoyed.
I was always a bit of a tomboy... I didn't grow up with Aladdin, Sleeping Beauty scared me, I paid a lot more attention to the dwarves rather than Snow White, I didn't like Cinderella because I was read the real story and knew the Disney version was censored, etc etc etc...
But Ariel was fun and because her best friend was a fish, I found her a lot cooler. :] Plus that movie was a lot more actiony, hehehe!

belle, I guess because my personality fits her the best. I cannot talk to animals which nixes sleeping beauty, cinderella, and snow white. I am not against getting married, which counts jasmine out.
I do,however, love to read, sing, and I want so much more then they've got planned...:)
*disclaimer: beast does not count as a true animal since he was in fact human before he became an animal.
haha cute post ches.
I am so glad I am the only one who favors Cinderella in these comments so far. I feel like I totally relate to her because I'm a dental assistant who cleans and takes orders all day. And I love to dance and sing around my house and I even look like her.
I also like Sleeping Beauty because even though she doesn't do much... prick finger, fall asleep, get saved... I think Prince Phillip is HOT cuz he looks like my husband. Plus, her story has fairies and dragons. Too cool.
OMG im totally in love with Eric too........just read your old post :) and so with that said I wanted to be Ariel soooo bad growing up i to learned how to use the VCR at a very young age because i was in love with that movie i watched it over and over again and I used to make my sister tie sheets around my legs so i could pretend i was a mermaid :)
Thank you for the link! I must say, I like your coloring of the princesses better than the originals. And the idea of Little Mermaid pancakes sounds amazagical.
Okay, so most of the time I don't think about being a princess, but now...after reading your extremely cool blog...I am...in fact I'm kind of obsessing. This can't be good...what with the whole flower and decorating thing...
wow, you sound like my friends! awesome...
me & my college guy friends used to discuss at length which princesses we liked the best.
ALL of my guy friends picked ariel.
all of them.
i like belle, because she likes to read, and i'm a nerd too, i think.
